Do you have a missing tooth? Or more than one? Dental implants are the closest thing to having a natural tooth all over again. Dental implants at Smile Concepts in Sydney are the ultimate option for restoring lost teeth or complete full-mouth restoration, in our opinion. Why? Because they are designed to resemble the appearance, feel, and function of your natural tooth structures.

What Are Dental Implants?

Does Medicare Cover Dental Implants in Australia?

An implant is essentially a man-made replacement tooth that functions like a natural tooth root. The base is constructed of titanium, which has the unusual property of integrating with your own bone or jaw. After your implant stabilises through bone integration, we can cover it with porcelain restoration (such as a crown or bridge) to close the space created by your missing tooth.

Implants are said to be more durable and stronger than natural teeth. Because of their streamlined design, they can function as a natural part of your bite, and no one will ever know the difference. Most people prefer them to dentures because they are not detachable and cannot be removed. Additionally, they offer the best return on investment because the majority of dental implants can last a lifetime.

Getting Dental Implants

Installing dental implants is a minimally invasive process that just requires local anaesthesia to numb the immediate area around it. You will be allowed to drive yourself home as long as you did not receive any sedation. However, it is typical to feel sensitive for a day or two after the surgery. A minor bit of soreness or discomfort is not unusual.

Getting dental implants is not a quick procedure. Before we add a crown or bridge, the new restoration will need some time to integrate with supporting bone tissues. If you have a tooth extracted prior to implant placement, it may take up to three months for the implant to properly integrate and be ready to support a crown.

The price of your implant treatment is affected by the type of restoration you choose, whether extractions are required, and if any bone grafting is needed.

How To Care For Implants

It is relatively simple to care for implants. Although they cannot get gum disease, you should brush and floss around an implant every day, just like you would a natural tooth. Regular checkups will allow us to remove any calcified buildup that cannot be removed with a brush or floss.

The majority of implant-supported prosthetics are permanently attached. If you use a removable appliance, like a stabilised overdenture, make sure to remove it at night and clean it as you would a typical denture.

Does Medicare Cover Dental Implants?

Depending on the level of private dental coverage you have, certain insurance companies will cover the cost of dental implants. However, Medicare does not offer the same coverage. Fortunately, at Smile Concepts, a dental implant cost can start from as little as $40/week on our interest-FREE payment plan or  $4950.00 for a single tooth.

Meanwhile,  full-arch implant surgery may only require between 4-6 dental implants per arch (upper or lower jaw). As such, dental implants cost is more cost-effective than if you chose to get traditional bridges or wear dentures on a long-term basis.

In many cases, dental implants are typically a one-time investment and can be maintained for a lifetime, they provide an excellent return on investment for your missing teeth needs. Learn more about dental implant costs Here.
